Staple food granules for medium-sized axolotls from 8 - 20 cm

Axolotls belong to the amphibians, like newts and frogs. Unlike other amphibians, they retain their larval stage with external gill tufts throughout their lives. Axolotl originally come from a lake in Mexico, which was located at a high altitude and thus had low temperatures around 20 °C. Today, the city of Mexico City has expanded to such an extent that the lake lies within the city and contains hardly any living creatures due to the influx of garbage and other pollution. Thus, the axolotl is considered extinct in its original habitat.

Axolotls find their food olfactorily, that is, through their sense of smell and with the help of mechanoreceptors, which, as in the lateral line organ of fish, perceive flow and vibration stimuli. This makes live food and "interesting" smelling food such as JBL PRONOVO LOTL ideal for a species-appropriate diet. In nature, they lie in wait for their prey and eat crustaceans, insect larvae, small fish and even small specimens of their own species. The food composition of JBL PRONOVO LOTL takes into account the food spectrum and thus includes fish meat (trout), shrimps and gammarus (brown shrimps).

With (pre-) prebiotic food, scientists agree that they promote digestion and thus health. In the case of axolotls, there is another essential aspect: With better digestion, less is excreted and thus the water is less polluted, resulting in fewer algae problems and keeping the water cleaner.
