It's almost that time again: Black Friday is rolling in, and with it a wave of consumerism that tempts us to make more and more purchases, faster and faster, and often unnecessarily. But at AQUATANA, we have a different vision – one that is in line with our values and the love of nature that we share with our furry, feathered and scaly friends. That's why we say: We live Green Friday!

But what does that actually mean? It's more than just a name. It's a decision and a promise.

The flip side of Black Friday: Why we are setting a counterpoint

Black Friday may seem tempting at first glance. Rock-bottom prices and bargains are appealing. But for our planet and often also for the quality of the products, this day is a ‘black day’:

• Consumerism: Often, people buy things they don't really need. This leads to a huge waste of resources – from production to transport to disposal. How often do such spontaneous purchases end up unused in the corner?
• Price pressure at the expense of quality: In order to offer these extreme discounts, manufacturers and retailers often have to make savings elsewhere. This is often at the expense of quality, durability and sometimes even fair working conditions.
• The flood of packaging: In online retail in particular, Black Friday order volumes cause a huge increase in packaging waste and returns, which have a negative impact on the environment and logistics.

Our animals deserve the best – and that includes a healthy environment in which to live. We believe that responsible use of resources is not a luxury, but a necessity.
